Retro Song Review: Hurts - The Rope.
March.07.2023
Taken from Hurts' 2013 album Exile, The Rope starts with a gentle and angelic flow. The song is prompt with its overflowing of exuberant emotional force. The luminous vocals ascend in chorale-like fashion. As the middle eight's quiet synths provide a warming hum, they suddenly burst-forth with a quake of metallic-like electronic pulses. These are never abrasive and ease-in with the rest of the song's scenery with perfect harmony. The Rope is indeed a tender and touching soiree.

Single Review: Ivory - In My Arms
March.01.2023
Independent band Ivory stirs up a stellar rock track with In My Arms. The song opens with a sonically engaging guitar rift. It feels warm like the dusk of a summer's day, and like the dusk it feels slightly somber. The vocals and lyrics conjure up a wistfulness and longing. It takes the listener away to their own sad reminiscences. The background electronics and guitar solo further add an ethereal moodiness to the track. The whole impact of the song is strong. Highly recommended.

Single Review: Depeche Mode - Ghosts Again.
February.09.2023
It's hard to accurately sum up just how amazing Depeche Mode's new single Ghosts Again is! Lead singer Dave Gahan's beauteous voice permeates into the deepest regions of the heart and soul. His singing creates with ease a state of overwhelming joyous emotion. It is pure elation, and Gahan once again proves he is the greatest vessel of song - second to none. A special form of divinity called Depeche Mode. Gloriously melodic and monumentally pleasing, Ghosts Again is a true gem!

Single Review: Sophie-Ellis Bextor - Breaking The Circle
February.08.2023
The latest release from Sophie Ellis-Bextor Breaking The Circle sounds like what could be described as astral pop. The single opens with pseudo-ambient, gently morphing into a swaying potpourri of sound and faultless vocals. It flows like a smooth wine, and is just as intoxicating. Be sure to enjoy it again and again.

Single Review: Raho - Evanescence.
February.04.2023
Raho's Evanescence is the sort of release that proves the lack of vocals or traditional instrumentation, doesn't mean that techno music cannot be powerful. Although the track is not exactly cutting-edge, it offers a rousing jolt of searing electronics that should more than please fans of the genre. When the track kicks up, it is quite compelling. Well worth a listen!

Retro Review: The Grid - Rollercoaster.
February.03.2023
Engaging and swirling with an amazing array of spacy sounds, Rollercoaster is essential electronic music. The track also demonstrates why, when done well, techno can have a timeless quality to it. This sounds as raw now as ever. Gleaming with greatness, this is a must add for any ambient-techno playlist!

Single Review: Phoenix Movement - Unreal.
February.01.2023
Opening with filmic levels of electronics, Unreal is instantly welcoming. The song gradually builds before launching into a hypnotic assault. The whole song is a perfect slice of techno grandness. Both a natural anodyne and a dancefloor anthem in one gorgeous package.

Single Review: 13130 Space Project - Ton 618.
January.12.2023
13130 Space Project's Ton 618 is a perfect track for anyone looking to take a chill and somniferous odyssey via sonic techno. It is ceaseless and siren like. Let it carry you away, like a magic carpet that has been festered up by a lucid dream. A top tier cut of spacey electronic music.

Retrospective Review: Depeche Mode - Behind The Wheel.
January.11.2023
Throughout the 1980's, Depeche Mode were predominantly an electronic band. Even when the sounds of guitars were utilized, they were married to a torrent of rich synthesizers. However, unlike many of the relatively cold or robotic electronic bands that emerged in the post-punk era, Depeche Mode had a real sense of heart (even if it was a bleak one). If Martin Gore's lyrics brought a human quality to Depeche Mode, then Dave Gahan's vocals brought the soul and vitality. Gore once commented that Gahan's voice has a power that his doesn't. The single Behind The Wheel perfectly demonstrates this. Throughout the song Gahan's voice bears down with a strong, deep, and very provocative command. The voice stirs up strange mixes of emotions - it's sensitive yet sinister, its alluring yet slightly lewd. It's dark but somehow so very luminous. The sweeping nature hauls the listener away to a realm that is just Depeche Mode. Once there, you never want to leave. And thus, Behind The Wheel is a masterpiece, an amorous affair. Sensual carnality wrapped in synth-rock perfection (and you could dance to it)!

Single Review: Patrick Scuro & HXTC - Time is an Illusion.
January.10.2023
Patrick Scuro & HXTC's Time is an Illusion is a thrilling eruption of electronic music that transcends the clubs. It will provide an equally powerful listen on headphones, just as it would under the party lights. It's gleaming techno stirs up a mix of wonderful contradictions as it comes across as both fresh sounding and nostalgia inducing.
